Jax Review - A Botanist's Guide to Parties and Poisons
Author: Kate Khavari
Genre: historical mystery
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was such a nice change of pace from the spooky season romance binge I was on! A Botanist's Guide to Parties and Poisons was a charmingly fun, historical thriller/mystery with just a dash of romance. It kicks off with a poisoning right from the get-go and the whodunit kept me tearing through pages, finishing it in under 24 hours. The mystery kept me guessing right up until the very end! I enjoyed Kate’s writing style and loved how she seamlessly wove in plant details without overwhelming the reader. Expertly researched! My only ‘complaint’ is that I wished there was more of the romance. I felt that was the only thing lacking.
Overall, thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend to anyone looking for a quick mystery. I’m already looking forward to book two in the series!
